Two kids, two dogs, two styles of rugs
Two friendly bulldogs were my welcoming committee and my first indicator that all of the Bunyaad rugs in the home of Liz and Scott were not just on display but on the floor to be used. That, I have to say, is the best recommendation we can ever receive. Liz mentioned several times during my visit that they kept coming back for more Bunyaad rugs because they knew that the rugs could easily handle their active family life.
Design elements that bring the world together
Liz and Scott have a wonderful eye for design elements and color combinations. This cozy sitting area just off the entrance combines beautiful art pieces from around the world. The bold geometric design of the Khan Mamdi in rust and cream tones finds itself again in the masks on the wall. A contemporary black shelf holds elephants and a variety of other small sculptures showing that the traditional designs found in the rug and masks are complemented by modern, clean lines.
Take a look at the red Khan Mamdi behind the sofa. Don’t those colors look amazing against the leather? Do you have to have matching rugs in close proximity? As you can see here you certainly don’t. The Chobi and Khan Mamdi work so well together and with their surrounding furniture. It’s a place I would have liked to just sit and relax.
Why not? Choose a light colored rug for the dining room
The red flowers in the Chobi are almost in reverse in the seat cushions of the dining room chairs. You can tell that each rug was carefully chosen for their specific design and colors. Liz and Scott have chosen Bunyaad rugs for their home not just because of the beauty and easy care but also knowing that each person involved in making their rugs was fairly paid.

When working in the rug room, we hear many of the same fears over and over again and yet by the time most folks leave, they have some peace of mind. Are these some of your concerns?
We enjoyed a great time in Pakistan. Everywhere we went we met friendly, helpful and incredibly hospitable people. It seemed like everyone wanted to shake our hands and give us a hug. On Sunday afternoon, while touring the old Lahore Fort, a number of people wanted their pictures taken with us. Contrary to what we hear and read in the media about Pakistan, it’s a great place to travel – safe, friendly, hospitable and very scenic.
