Experience Fair Trade

Hands-on, ready-to-go workshops for students, educators, youth leaders, and community groups. Fun. Thought-provoking. Memorable.

Looking for an experience that gets your group thinking critically and working collaboratively? Whether you teach social studies, art, or economics—or lead a community or church group—Bunyaad’s Fair Trade Education Programs are designed to connect real-world global issues with hands-on, meaningful learning.

Through interactive activities and guided discussion, participants discover how ethical production, labor rights, and economic justice intersect in their everyday purchases. These programs are rooted in Bunyaad’s Fair Trade values—ensuring that farmers and artisans around the world earn a living wage, work in safe conditions, and are treated with dignity.

Banana Supply Chains
Understanding Global Supply Chains
Approximately 2 Hours

Jump into the global journey of a banana! In this engaging, hands-on workshop, participants break down the cost of a banana to explore who gets paid what—from the farmer to the exporter, the retailer to the consumer. Working with five supply chain “stations” and a custom banana worksheet, participants decide how they think each person should be paid—and then compare it to how conventional and Fair Trade systems really work. Perfect for economics or social studies curriculum.

LEGO Rug Builders
Art, Math & Cultural Storytelling
Approximately 2 Hours

Explore the incredible craftsmanship behind Fair Trade rugs—one LEGO piece at a time. Participants build a rug design using 1×1 LEGO bricks, discovering the detail, artistry, and math that go into creating a hand-knotted rug. Along the way, they learn about Bunyaad’s Fair Trade rugmakers in Pakistan, their stories, and what a just wage means for their communities. Ideal for art, math, cultural studies, and hands-on learners of all ages.
