    Need Your Bunyaad Rug Cleaned?

    Have a dirty Bunyaad rug and not wanting to wash it yourself? No worries! We’ll wash it for you!

    How Does It Work?

    For $4/square foot ($50 minimum charge), we will wash your rug and bring it back to cleanliness! From cleaning and brightening fringes, washing the pile with Dr. Bronner’s fair trade soap and addressing any particular problem spots with our bag of time-learned stain removal tricks, our skilled team of rug cleaners will not stop until they feel they have gotten the rug as clean as possible!

    We are happy to clean any Bunyaad rug as we know what has gone into producing your one-of-a-kind, fairly traded hand-knotted rug (and we know what we can throw at it when we find pesky stains). We know that you can wash these rugs at home but we also know many of you are pleased to have someone else deal with a heavy, wet rug and pesky stains.

    Ephrata Rug Room under Renovation

    RenoStaffThe Bunyaad Rug Room at Ten Thousand Villages in Ephrata is under a major renovation… painting, new flooring, the works!… but guess who is doing most of the reno…. Rug Room staff! We are finding that many of our staff have incredible hidden skills in painting tedious edges, organizing major fixture moves and otherwise keeping after a group of willing painters!

    Reno started today (updates being posted on our facebook page) and we quickly found that keeping after desk work while painting was quite difficult, especially when we had to disconnect our internet downstairs in order to paint the wall behind the router. 🙂 We will be closing this Saturday, August 1, at 3 p.m. so that we can really start making some major messes… and then we will reopen on Saturday, August 8 at 10 a.m.

    Jared Rug Training Centre Empowering Women in Remote Region of Pakistan

    Women-Training-at-Jared-Fair-Trade-Rug-CentreOne gentleman came into the Centre asking “Is there still room for my two daughters to be recruited? They have just finished their high school and now have no job opportunities in this area.” He is is a local night watchman for many nearby shops at night. He told the Center’s supervisor that he wants his daughters to be able to work and to have a source of income for life. His daughters are now enrolled in training at the Center. Once they are trained, a loom will be installed in their home, easily multiplying their income potential and empowerment and increasing the financial stability of their family.

    Let Me Introduce: Arshad

    Arshad, usually called by her nickname Bebe, and her family live in the village of Darianwala located approximately six miles from the Indian border in Northeast Pakistan.

    Arshad and her husband Mustaq have been working for Bunyaad for the past five years (since 2009). Prior to joining Bunyaad the family had been drifting from place to place in hopes of finding work that would support the entire family. As a woman working outside the home would not have been acceptable for Arshad and so the challenge of providing for the entire family rested on Mustaq’s shoulders.

    How does a family in rural Pakistan make ends meet when jobs are scarce and mostly seasonal?

    A Quilt and a Kazak Living in Perfect Harmony

    When I walked into the home of Gill and Dave my eyes went straight to the quilt on the wall in the living room. I love symmetry and vibrant, yet harmonious color combinations and this quilt was a perfect example showcasing both. What made the quilt stand out even more though was the Tribal Kazak sitting almost underneath as part of a cozy sitting area.

    As an artist, Gill is drawn to handmade, finely crafted products. Even before moving to the US many years ago she had discovered Bunyaad Rugs online and searched our extensive inventory for the perfect rug for her new home. She appreciates how much care is put into each rug and delights in exploring design details and how they will work with her furniture pieces and other art work.
