Kashmiri Chai and Nankhatai
Close your eyes. It’s mid-afternoon at the Bunyaad Warehouse & Finishing Center in Lahore, Pakistan and that means it’s tea time! Tea time is an integral part of every Pakistani workplace & household. Tea is always served piping hot and drunk while piping hot. Biscuits of some form always adorn the side of your cup. There are many different forms of chai but one of the most special is the pink Kashmiri chai, either served slightly salty or sweet depending on your taste and topped with crushed nuts.
Need any of the spices for this Cooking with Bunyaad time? We have them all in our downtown Lititz store or online! If you’ve never cooked with fair trade Burlap & Barrel Single Origin spices, you’re in for a real treat!
Cook along or just watch as we weave stories of rugs, Pakistani artisans & fair trade into our cooking. Now that we’re traveling more with work, Cooking with Bunyaad is held once a month, usually on a Sunday. Please join our mailing list to get notifications of our free, online cooking times.
