The senna know allows for intricate designs

Heriz are known for their indigo blues, deep reds and ivories, as well as their introductions of green, gold and rusts. They are very similar in construction to our Shairwan carpets but are crafted solely using a senna knot, allowing for intricate designs and a great variety of color.

Our Heriz rugs are almost entirely naturally-dyed, however, Heriz natural dyes are commercially farmed natural dyes (such as indigo and cochineal) and are therefore less labor intensive for our artisans than hand-gathered natural dyes. The reason for the phrase “almost entirely naturally-dyed” is because some artisans choose to augment their natural dyes with some commercially-available dyes in order to create the precise color they desire. The wool in Heriz carpets is hand-spun using a spinning wheel.
